Tree climbing is an incredibly dangerous activity, associated with frequent falls from extension ladders on unstable ground, and from brittle branches. Each year, millions of people are injured in falls from trees (American Academic of Pediatrics). These falls have been identified as the second leading cause of death from unintentional injury in the U.S. (American Academic of Pediatrics), underscoring the danger of tree climbing by amateurs. Injuries stem from:

• Lack of training
• Lack of equipment
• Lack of experience
• Misinformed belief that tree climbing is easy

These dangers should serve as a warning to avoid tree climbing without proper training, experience, and equipment.
